Milan Collin

General Manager deepeei Film Productions

Milan Collin of deepeei Film Productions has worked with Kevin Augello on productions such as 'Sight On Everest' (following a partially sighted climber on an ascent of the North-Face) and 'Going North' (an expedition in Greenland).

His latest project is a new 13 episode series called 'Going South - Cycling through the Americas'. It follows a team of four cyclists travelling from Alaska to Argentina, with the hope of discovering innovative and sustainable solutions to climate change, along the way. The production will highlight the eye opening ideas and positive contributions that businesses, non-government organisations and individuals are making to a sustainable future.

The viewer will see a journey that covers 16,765 miles and 17 countries, as the cyclists travel through spectacular landscapes and hectic cities, enduring hardship and facing human conflict, in a bid to finish the expedition. Filming lasts for eight months and the series will be broadcast at the end of 2010.

For this production deepeei teamed up with Panasonic, using HD Cams such as their HPX500. Milan says "We needed enough battery power to film through the day, and a fast-charger to get the batteries up and running for the following days shooting. We contacted PAG and asked if they would be interested in sponsoring the project."

PAG provided L95 Li-Ion Time Batteries and a 2-channel Quasar fast-charger for the production. The Li-Ion batteries and the compact charger ensured that the size and weight of the kit were kept to a minimum. The HPX500 has a maximum power consumption of 22W, meaning that one L95, with a capacity of 95 watt-hours, could be expected to provide more than 4 hours run-time.

The L95 is available in a format that is directly compatible with the battery connection system suppied as standard with Panasonic cameras, so there was no need for any battery mount adaptors. PAG is the only manufacturer offering PAGlok, V-Mount and Gold-Mount compatible power solutions.

"The batteries are really amazing," enthused Milan. "They last much longer then I expected, and the weight is ideal."
