PAG debuts 150Wh linking batteries at IBC

PAG’s new PL150 Series of Intelligent Linking PAGlink Batteries will make their European debut at IBC, on the Aspectra stand (formerly Alphatron) 12.B36. The 150Wh batteries will begin shipping in the month prior to the show.

Those seeking a high-capacity Li-Ion battery, with a high-current capability, in a more compact and lightweight format than ever before, have their dreams answered.

The new PAGlink PL150 batteries utilise the latest high-capacity Li-Ion cells, to offer an increased capacity of 150Wh - 50% more than PAG’s PL96 batteries - with no increase in size. The 150Wh model is housed in the same case as the established 96Wh battery, ensuring the highest energy density of any Li-Ion battery of equivalent capacity brought to market.

The two V-Mount options offer a choice between PAG’s now familiar 5-light Run-Time & Capacity Indicator or the higher-resolution, and more convenient, numeric Run-Time & Capacity Display. Both provide remaining run-time information at the press of a button. The Gold Mount PL150 features a numeric display and a higher individual current-draw capability (10A compared to the V-Mount’s 8A).

When PAGlink batteries are linked their continuous current-draw capability is increased to 12A. This is ideal for powering digital cinema cameras and multiple accessories simultaneously. D-Tap, USB and other outputs are provided by the PAGlink PowerHub, a separate plate that sits between two PAGlink batteries, maintaining their hot-swap capability, and allowing continuous power.

Every functional benefit of the PAGlink system is maintained with the new PL150 Series. Batteries can be linked to multiply capacity and greatly extend run-time. Two 150Wh batteries become a 300Wh power source when linked, weighing little more than 1.5kg. Having all the power you need means fewer time-wasting camera reboots. Linking batteries for discharge also increases their cycle life, because the current demand is shared.

In keeping with the latest PAG-developed technology, the PL150 Series communicates automatically with multiple camera data systems and displays remaining capacity in the camera viewfinder/LCD. The batteries can be programmed easily by the user to display capacity with the Red system.

The new 150Wh batteries can be linked with the 96Wh PAGlink models for charge or discharge. As many as 8 batteries can be linked for either function, managed safely by the PAGlink intelligent technology. Linked charging was developed by PAG and is only available with the PAGlink system. A 2-position PAGlink charger will charge 16 batteries simultaneously.

Reliability, durability and the highest safety standard are integral to the battery design and consistent across PAG’s range of batteries.

The PL150 Series has been tested by an independent authority to UN standards, in compliance with air transport regulations. A capacity above 100Wh but below 160Wh means that you can fly with two units per person in carry-on luggage.
