PAG Enhances Broadcast Battery

PAG, the London based innovator of high-quality camera battery and lighting systems for broadcast television and video production, announces the introduction of the PAG L96e battery, an enhanced version of the popular PAG L95e, and a replacement for it.

The L96e offers enhanced features and a superior performance for the same price as the L95e (£219 UK list). It provides a maximum continuous output of 8A, compared to the 7A offered by the L95e, and performs better at low temperatures, even down to -20°C.

The L96e is a 14.8V 6.5Ah 96 watt-hour, Lithium-Ion battery designed for broadcast ENG and professional video production. It incorporates high-capacity, long-life, premium quality, branded Lithium-Ion cells, and is available in V-Mount and PAGlok models.

The V-Mount L96e is compatible with various viewfinder data systems, such as those used by Sony and Red One cameras for displaying battery capacity in the viewfinder. The L96e adjusts automatically when presented to a different system.

The L96e features a built-in run-time and capacity indicator that works in the same way as the one provided by the L95e. Capacity is displayed as a percentage using LED indicators: 1 LED equals 20% approx. The same LEDs also provide a run-time prediction on-load by first indicating the remaining hours: 1 LED equals 1 hour; and then the remaining minutes: 1 LED equals 10 minutes.

The capacities of two V-Mount L96e batteries can be combined, using the PAG Power Plate dual battery mount, creating a capacity of 192 watt-hours, for extended camera run-time and a current draw of 10A.

The L96e can be charged using Sony or IDX Li-Ion chargers, although PAG recommends its own V-Series chargers such as the PAG Cube. The battery does not require periodic ‘service’ charging.

The L96e has a self-recovery feature that enables you to reset the battery, if the protection circuit has been tripped, by simply pressing the display button.

The battery incorporates a comprehensive fail-safe electronic protection system, and features internal circuits that are coated with Parylene, making them resistant to electrolyte.

The L96e has been independently tested and certified to comply with United Nations regulations for Air Transportation. Its capacity is below 100 watt-hours and it is therefore suitable for air transport on passenger aircraft, in hand-luggage, without quantity restriction.
